FIRE RESISTANT COMMUNICATIONS CABLES
We can offer non-flame-spreading cables, non-fire-spreading cables, and fire-resistant cables.
Sometimes there is a tendency to mix the concepts. However, the differences are still significant since fire-resistant cables, in addition to having an excellent reaction to fire, like the first ones, allow the circuit to be kept in operation for a few minutes in the presence of a fire. They are allowing the security systems to act correctly.
Below is a summary table of the standards used in tests for each case of behaviour and fire resistance.
NO PROPAGATOR FLAME | ≠ | NOT FIRE SPREADER | ≠ | FIRE RESISTANCE | |
Standards | IEC 60332-1-2EN 60332-1-2VDE 0482-332-1-2 | IEC 60332-3-22..25EN 60332-3-22..25 Cat. A-DVDE 0482-332-3-22..25 Cat. Characteristics | Cable installed vertically which, in the presence of a flame, is self-extinguishing. | A set of vertical cables that, in the presence of a flame, self-extinguishes and does not propagate fire. | Cables that do not propagate in the presence of fire, are self-extinguishing and maintain their operation for certain minutes. |
