Poliacbos often handles heavy products, as all our products are sold in large quantities and as they are made of metals and plastics, they become heavier. That’s why it’s extremely delicate when these products have to be moved manually.
Excessive exertion reduces the ability to work, increasing discomfort, discomfort, pain and increasing the risk of injury.
One of the most common injuries are herniated discs, which are the result of a weakening of the intervertebral disc, which moves from its position.
This injury can affect the cervical and lumbar region, and in the second case it can radiate discomfort to the legs and feet. The main cause of disc herniation in young people is poor posture in everyday life, as well as the habit of carrying excessive weight. These factors lead to an overload of the discs, which exert too much effort and become injured. But it can also occur due to trauma.
According to data from the European Agency for Health and Safety at Work (EU-OSHA), 23.8% of all back injuries (in the EU) that occur at work are related to manual handling of loads.
In Portugal, Decree-Law no. 330/93 of September 25th defines as a load that is too heavy to be handled manually, any load that exceeds 30 kg in occasional operations and greater than 20 kg in frequent operations.
To mitigate this problem, Policabos does not allow lengths of cable weighing more than 30 kg to be sent in rolls.
